Fatal Cure - Index

'Fatal Cure' is a horror story. A Zombie-genre inspired post-apocalyptic vision involving strong violence and references to sex. Profanity and drug use are affectations I have adopted to tell this tale. They do not necessarily reflect the author's views.

Please consider this information before proceeding. If you are offended by James Herbert or Stephen King you will not enjoy my writing style either. (The comparison is for subjective purposes only).

The synopsis.

Sam is a reluctant hero. He is overweight, self-absorbed, and teetering on the edge of suicide after loneliness and fear have worn him down.

Sam feels Life's whip more keenly than most people. A cynical slob with no delusions of grandeur, he wonders 'why me' at every step.

As a bewildered non-combatant he is spared, by hiding, when a plague of genetically engineered parasites reproduce uncontrollably, taking refuge in the bodies of every human they encounter. Sam's food runs out and he must brave encounters with the Parasite hosts who roam the Earth killing or capturing all survivors.

Sam stumbles from one unthinkable situation to the next before hunkering down to wait out his lifespan in quiet cowering.

But then he makes a dreadful mistake.

A stupid risk brings him to his lowest ebb. A beautiful girl saves him from certain death, and life continues to just keep on getting worse.

This is not a first draft but it MAY HAVE the odd spelling or grammatical errors. Plot holes? I would love you to point them out so the necessary corrections can be made. All input from readers is welcome and will be responded to.

I began this story in January 2007 and finished it in July 2008.

My writing can reflect movies and books regarding this genre, a galling and irritating fact. BUT, I strive for originality in all that I write. My stories will never be blatant ripoffs.

Be warned, I seek to entertain, but may offend, depending on your beliefs and sensibilities. Enjoy.
